I went to one of my favorite winter spots on both Saturday and Sunday evenings. There were spectacular clouds on Saturday night and clear views of the Sun on Sunday. Both nights were cold, but the wind was much stronger Sunday.

I had a great time walking on the Cape Cod Rail Trail during a brief snow squall this afternoon.
Winter coming back after a few days off.
Video from February 2021:
Opportunities to get outside with the camera have been few and far between this winter.
I was happy to pick up some coffee and head out to Nauset Light Beach to take in some cold air and winter color.
I can’t seem to get enough of Skaket Beach this week.
At sunset tonight with a strong wind off the water the look and vibe of this fabulous place was strikingly different from two days ago.
After days of rain the sky cleared at least a little bit.
It was much cooler this morning than it has been in quite a while. About halfway through the walk the Northwest wind picked up and dropped some bay effect snow/sleet. It seemed like the moisture whipped up from about a half mile away didn’t have time to fully form as flakes and came down as ice. I thought it ironic that they looked very much like ice melt pellets.
The low lying vegetation on the edge of the forest seemed to hold up these wind formed frozen droplets like jewels for all to see.
It was a perfect evening to make several quick stops. And there was so much to see!
Below is a slideshow of a few pics from Lower Cape tonight.
It was cool and crisp on the Cape Cod Rail Trail this morning. The wind was light. The sky was blue. The clouds to the south were spectacular. Slideshow from today’s walk below.

These walks are more than taking in beauty, which at times is simply staggering. These times are great for stimulating creativity and a sense of wonder.
What is this? And how many people have walked under it without knowing it was there. And how often, in general, does this happen. I admit, I didn’t see this until my second pass this morning:
When I came along these two large trees of different species but set so perfectly together, at least it seemed so to me, I thought they looked like a mature happily married couple. This guided me to seeing the essence of these walks.
“It is the marriage of the soul with Nature that makes intellect fruitful, and gives birth to imagination,” — Henry David Thoreau
I was able to make it back to Nauset Beach today. After a day or so of clouds and some rain the sky cleared. It was warm (45 F) and simply spectacular.

Tonight I had to walk out close to 100 yards on the tidal flat to capture the pastel sky at twilight. Had the tide been in I simply would not have had the angle for the shot.
