Tomorrow we are supposed to get a nor’easter. As calm before the storm moments go, this one was stunning.
This morning I skipped coffee and got right out to Dowses Beach. The sky was clear and there was some ambient light before sunrise along the horizon.
As is so often the case, I found myself overwhelmed by the bright light from the sun as it rose above the horizon.
Absurdly obvious, the sun was so damn bright.
Over the next seven days the weather will range from light to heavy rain, occasional rain, and times of no rain but dark clouds.
Time to appreciate the brighter times.
The easy part about taking morning pics in the winter is that you can sleep in a little longer. The tough part about taking morning shots in the winter is that it is winter. It’s often cold and wet.
Sometimes you need a little luck. Sometimes your car roof comes in handy.
This was one of those God speaks through Nature moments.
There was some nice color in the eastern sky this morning before sunrise.
Was able to get it some air time, too. Always grateful to have more exposure for these images.
It was quite cloudy Saturday morning and I wasn’t sure what I would find when I got to the National Sea Shore. For a while it seemed I would be better off doing something else. But when I approached the entrance to Coast Guard Beach I was glad I came.
It has been a typical fall morning so far. There were openings in the clouds along the horizon at the National Sea Shore which invited a glowing sun that never showed. Clouds thickened, fog rolled in. On my way to the bay side the sun shined through the clouds. And then it didn’t. Now it’s raining.
Before all this, I was at Marconi beach. It was dark enough for me to see my shadow form from the moonlight. It was a good opportunity to take some pics with longer exposure times.
I was fortunate enough to be on Marconi Beach well before sunrise this morning. For a few minutes the clouds to the south of the setting sun began to glow from the sunlight below the horizon.
I was able to capture the beginning of this on video.
The temperature and humidity dropped and what has been for months a cool and refreshing surf became warm and soothing this morning. A very welcome change, if you ask me.
